Protocols: L-Tyrosine

Psychoactive

Description: Amino acid.

Method of Action: Used by brain to create the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine.

Indications and Usage: Mild depression. Causes alertness, energy and improved mood.

Contraindications: Do not use this product if you are pregnant or lactating without first seeking advice from your physician. Do not use if you have a history of high blood pressure or a heart condition without direct medical supervision as this medication can raise blood pressure in some persons.

Dosage and Administration: Always take on an empty stomach 1 hour before a meal.

Clinical Effect In: Thirty to sixty minutes.

Adverse Reactions: In high doses can cause anxiety, restlessness and insomnia. If you suspect that an herb or other supplement is making you sick, call the FDA's MedWatch hotline at 800-332-1088 or contact the agency via it's website at http://www.fda.gov/medwatch.

Known Interactive Effects:

Additional Considerations: Phenylalanine is an amino acid, which is converted into tyrosine in the body. Des-tyrosine-gamma-endorphin has been used in the treatment of schizophrenia although research results are conflicting regarding efficacy.
